Gold Coast Scenic Amenity View Corridor Study
In order to guide the review of Planning Policy, in 2008 Gold Coast City Council undertook a Scenic Amenity study in accordance with the ‘South East Queensland Regional Plan 2005-2026 Implementation Guideline No. 8 Identifying and Protecting Scenic Amenity Values’. The Guideline recommends the criteria for identifying regionally and locally significant viewpoints as a tool in the protection of scenic amenity values.
RPS - working in collaboration with our specialist mapping company, Terranean - is one of a select group of landscape architectural consultancies with the technical ability to carry out a Scenic Amenity and View Corridor study in accordance with Guideline No. 8.
The result of the study is an assessment of 28 of the most valuable view corridors within the Gold Coast including a detailed analysis of the total seen area, land use, scenic amenity and scenic preference scores. In addition, RPS have provided recommendations for the management and preservation of the scenic quality of each of the selected view corridors.
